Student Success Statement #12

By doing it
“We learn to do by doing”- Spencer W. Kimball
spencer-w-kimball-82918-wallpaper.jpg

The statement “We learn by doing it” explains if you want to learn to learn to ride a bike you have to get on the bike and try otherwise you won’t learn how to ride a bike. This applies to many situations in your life. In math if you want to learn how to solve a problem then first you must try and solve the problem then correct your mistakes. If you want to learn to skateboard you have to ride the skateboard or else what the point of trying to learn how to ride a skateboard. I feel like I should start learning how to do stuff by doing. Because when I try something after someone has explained it to and I don’t get it on the first time I give up. I think now I should always remember that we learn by doing and that i should just keep trying. Not only I should remember this quote but many others too. This statement applies to everyone no matter what age they are.

Obedience
“Obedience is the central to becoming, being and remaining happy.”-David Bednar
david-a-bednar-large.jpg
The statement “Obedience is the central to becoming, being and remaining happy” explains that knowing you are always doing the right thing makes you proud. Following the rules even when you are told not to makes you feel good. Deciding to do something wrong for a quick laugh only last a few seconds. On the other hand choosing the right even when you are pressured to choose the wrong will make you feel happy. Even after years pass you may remember that moment forever and still feel happy. Not obeying doesn’t make you happy just at the moment but the consequences make you regret what you did. Deciding to steal isn’t a good choice it may feel good to get what you want but then paying the the consequences such as jail time makes you regret what you did. On the other hand if you would have never stolen you would have nothing to regret. You would have also been a free person and carried on with your life. Obeying the law is something very important. It’s not only obeying the law that’s the central to becoming happy but obeying everything you are told to do, choosing the right.

Student Success Statement #9

"Choosing the right is always the right thing to do."-Alex Linares

The statement "Choosing the right is always the right thing to do." explains that doing the the right thing is always the correct thing to do even if you dont want to. Choosing the right will make you feel like a better person. Although everyone makes mistakes we can learn from those mistakes to choose the right the next time. Not doing the correct thing will never make you feel good even if you try. Plus when you don't choose the right it always comes with consequences. Not doing your homework make you your grade go lower. Also not choosing the right by not doing your homework doesn't help you practice what you learned during class. Deciding to steal can send you to jail. Not choosing the right can have small and big consequences but it never makes you feel good. That's why choosing the right is always the right thing to do. Even when you really want to make the bad choice.

"What you are as a person is far more important than what you are as a basketball person"-John Wooden

The statement "What you are as a person is far more important than what you are as a basketball person" is explaining that you have to be a good person. John Wooden told this to his team because he didn't care much about winning but about his team being the best people they can be. If you are in a sport and you are always winning but you aren't a good person you will feel good at the moment but as you still decide to choose the wrong you will never always feel good. John Wooden was a great coach. Not because his team won so many games but because everyday he encouraged them to be a CTR person. He cared more about them being good people than to be a good basketball person. In my opinion he was a great coach.

True Wealth
"True Wealth is of the heart, not of the purse."- Pathros

The statement "True Wealth is of the heart, not of the purse." explains that to be truly wealthy it has to come from the heart. If you are rich but you had to scam to get that money then you are not truly wealthy. You may have a lot of money but it's not something you are proud. Instead if you give to others without asking for anything in return doesn't mean you get nothing it means you get the feeling of  happiness when you make others happy. If you decide to steal money because you are not satisfied with the amount you have you will never be happy. You will always feel as if you need more money and instead of being a happy person you will be a bitter person. And if you don't care about how much money you have and decide to give to others who need you will never feel as if you need more money because the feeling of helping others is trues wealth that came from the heart. If you are a rich person because of your hard work don't be afraid and help other out. You don't even have to give money you can go to events that help out. True wealth doesn't always mean giving money away it can also mean helping out in events that support causes.

Feel Right
"You cannot do wrong and feel right. It is impossible."- Ezra T. Benson

The statement "You cannot do wrong and feel right. It is impossible." is saying that not being a CTR(choose the right) person doesn't make you feel good. Such as lieing to your parents telling them you're going to study at the library but instead you go do something that isn't right. You won't feel bad at first but then seeing all the trust your parents put in you will make you feel like you were a bad person. If you go home and tell them the truth you will feel like a good person and not guilty. Another example is if you decide to something illegal you won't feel bad about it at the moment. But if you get caught you'll go to jail or community service which will make you start regretting everything you did. Or if you don't regret anything and do the same thing again and get caught by the police again you still wouldn't feel good about it. You'll keep feeling bad until you CTR(choose the right). Although you may believe you won't feel bad at doing the wrong you will. As you grow older you grow wiser and probably regret many of your mistakes.

Student Success Statement #5

"When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad."- Abraham Lincoln

The statement "When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad."explains that doing good make you feel like a good person and doing bad makes you feel guilty. This applies in many ways but doing bad doesn't always make you feel guilty but you know you're doing a bad thing. Such as copying a student on a test because you're afraid to fail. Once you get the test back you will feel relieved that you didn't fail the test but then you'll feel guilty. On the other hand if you don't cheat and study when you get back the test with a good score you'll feel proud. Such as if you are a volleyball player and the other team hits the ball and the ball touches line but you are the only one to notice but instead you say it was out. You will start to feel as if you don't deserve to win because of the point you got which you don't deserve. This can later make you lose focus and lose the game just because you felt guilty you didn't say the ball hit line. Doing good doesn't only make you feel good because if someone were to lose their phone and you found turning it in to the lost and found you would feel proud that you did the right thing. The other person will also be happy that someone found their phone and didn't keep it.

Obedience
"The key to freedom is obedience. The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have."-Boyd K. Packer

The statement "The key to freedom is obedience. The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have." explains that the more you choose the right the more freedom you have. For instance if you obey the laws you won't have to pay any consequences. Such as you decide you want to do something illegal and get caught you will have to pay the consequences such as jail time or community service depending on the crime. As for students if you don't follow the rules you may end up in detention which can take up your free time. Another example for students can be if they don't follow the rules the teacher may loose trust in them and won't let them so what they want when others could. Such as teachers may not allow a student sit in a seat he/she wants to sit in.

911 Memorial

911 Memorials

On September 11, 2001 a very tragic terrorist attack happened. Many lives were lost and many people were injured. A terrorists group hijacked 4 airplanes and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the twin towers, a third plane hit the pentagon just outside Washington D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.Over 6,000 people were injured and 2,996 lives were lost, more than 400 police officers and firefighters were killed. All of these people were were injured or dead within an hour and 42 minutes. Personally to me 9/11 is a very sad moment in history because I wasn't born in that time I don't know how it actually feels like to be worried, scared or crying for hours. Although thinking of 9/11 makes me want to cry I know it's not the same feeling as to living the moment.

Student Success Statement #3

Obedience
" Obedience is the great test of life."- Thomas S. Monson

The statement "Obedience is the great test of life" is explaining that obeying rules/laws leads to success in life. This can apply to everyone, such as a student in high school if they must wear uniform they should wear the proper uniform everyday. If they decide to disobey the rules and get caught then they will have to face the consequences such as detention. Consequences can also apply to everyone if they disobey. Such as if someone decides to commit a crime and gets caught. Then he/she will face the consequence of going to jail depending on the crime. Obeying the rules can lead to great things such as being a CTR(choose the right) person. If a person gets asked to do a task in their job and they do all the requirements and followed the rules perfectly then their is a chance he/she will get a promotion. As for a student if they decide to do all their classwork/homework the way their teacher told them to do, they will learn and understand. This can lead them to passing the test, which also leads to an A in the class.
